Memories from Marta. . .
The shooting of Costa Brava was an incredible experience! Desi del Valle flew to Barcelona for the filming and found that her accommodations doubled as the main set, so she had to sleep with the crew--I mean around the crew. It was very similar to the Agony & the Ecstasy. Difficult at times but ultimately rewarding when the final product was done.Ana Simón Cerezo saved us a huge amount of money by hiring herself out as mediator, therapist, associate producer, co-writer, special assistant in all departments, head of Public Relations and the voice of sanity. Of course in typical Catalan fashion I have to mention the food. No European shoot is complete without fabulous food. And our neophyte but wonderfully dedicated and talented crew was fueled by the wonderful meals cooked by Mercé Caubet, the mother of production manager Josep Amorós. And finally it's not true that the film was shot in 14 days. In reality it was thirteen. But who's counting? Contact our Distributors, to see how you can get a copy of Costa Brava for your very own!
"Director Marta Balletbò-Coll is sometimes called the Spanish Woody Allen for her offbeat, personalized filmmaking." |

Marta Balletbò-Coll
"This is a woman (M. Balletbò-Coll) of enormous pluck, chutzpah and natural talent" Born in Barcelona, Spain in 1960, Marta looks much younger than she really is. She got her Master's Degree in Analytical Chemistry in Barcelona where she survived by impressing her professors with impersonations of Liza Minnelli. She then set out across the sea to Columbia University in New York City with a Fulbright Scholarship tucked under her arm and succeeded in earning her M.F.A. in film directing. She was also one of the lucky few to land a steady dishwashing job at one of New York's finest hamburger joints. She now lives very happily in Barcelona where her first purchase was a state-of-the art dishwasher. Her favorite sport is flying 747s to lunch in New York, San Francisco and L.A. |

Ana Simón CerezoAfter earning a degree in Art History, Ana spent many years running the lives of others--as a seasoned office manager and executive--long before the film world beckoned. Her forte is writing and producing. In fact her most endearing and annoying habit is that she knows "whodunit" two minutes into a film. Grrrr. She's really smart. She's been told by industry insiders that she could earn a bundle doing script surgery in Tinsel Town. She already has her Malibu mansion picked out. Unfortunately, Jodie Foster still lives in it. Ana's taste is good, but very expensive. Nobody has ever seen her washing a dish and probably nobody will. |
